Great way to stop eye (and brain!) strain while working.

I like that I can snooze it if I’m deep in code.

Buggy update

Crash immediately after the timer ask you to rest. Making this app completely unusable. Please fix it soon!

Consumes too much energy

Nicely thought app. I really liked that it presents exercices too. But it consumes significant CPU power (2% on idle) for no good reason.

At first glance, I didnt think that I needed this app, but after a couple of days using it, I feel less fatigued throughout the day! I now consider it crucial to my workflow. The design is great as well.

As a professional spending long hours staring at a computer screen, I often don’t think about the strain on my eyes. This will become very clear to you when you start to realize how quickly 20 minutes disappears! At first these 20 minute intervals are irritating, they feel like they are distracting you and a waste of time. But I feel a lot of benefit to it. The small breaks are refreshing not only for my eyes, but mentally as well. It makes you more aware of time which can also be motivating to keep your work on track. In fact, there’s a feature on the break screen that lets you set a goal to plow through in the next 20 minutes. This app was definitely crafted with care and detail, it looks and works great and I’d say it’s worth giving it a try! You have to stick with it through your work day and make it a part of your routine!

As a longtime pomodoro technique user I really appreciate all the improvements this app makes over the usual alarm-style apps. I may actually be converted to 20-20-20…here’s why. First, the UX of the notifications are really great! These are strong prompts that you can’t put off. They’re screensized and they shout at you to take a pause. You can’t miss these. Next there’s the continuous timer aspect of this. I’ll forget to operate my current pomodoro app. But with this, the timer continues into the next cycle automatically as soon as you dismiss the prompts. This really helps move me move along with my work with minimal operation of the app. Two thumbs up for that. Finally 20 seconds... Is this the perfect breaktime? Do I miss my 5-minute pomodoros? I’ll be honest, I sometimes get super sidetracked in my 5 minute pomodoro breaks. 20 seconds is just long enough for me to stand up, walk around while looking across the office to relieve eye strain and sit back down to resume work. No risk of ADD kicking in, just a healthy break.

I really like this app. Great design. I especially like the reminders for streches. Defining 20 minute goals is cool too. The only issue I have is that during the “rest” period, my mac CPU goes to 100%. I have to quickly start the next 20 minute segment or shut the app down if I want to take a longer break.

Amazing application. It is definitely a necessity for people who use their computers for long periods of time! Eye care is definitely something taken for granted in this digital age. Thank you developers!

I love this app thus far. Well done! Out of my way while I am working, but forcing me to lookup or stretch is much needed. I do not know how many times I caught myself staring at the screen for so long that my eyes started to scream! It will also encourage me to just get up and go outside whe it is nice and walk around!

Overall like the app and design. Minor frustrations.. is that you have to click a relatively small button to finish the rest. Please allow a key press (ESC?) to exit this screen. And the rest screen needs some performance improvements as another reviewer noted.

I’m liking this app, but I’m also constantly seeing it using about 1-2% CPU. That has a bad effect on my battery life. Why is this application sucking more power than Finder, Slack, Dropbox etc?

I can work in a 20 second rest break every 20 mins just fine, integrating pomodoro style goals is a nice touch too, however I commonly walk away from my computer for a few hours. I’m not going to pause the timer everytime I do so but when I come back I don’t want the first thing I see is “You haven’t rested your eyes in over 40 mins”. If the timer is full, have the suggested option to rest or reset so I don’t have to hit “ready to rest” and then “Start Rest” , and then "Back to it”.

I’ll admit that I was a little skeptical starting the 20-20-20 rule for it’s effectiveness in preventing eye strain. I started using this app at the begining of a coding class and used it for several weeks. Yesterday I ignored it’s promptings all day and today I TOTALLY feel the difference. I would recommend this for anyone who spends several hours a day lookin at a computer screen. This will save you many headaches in the long run. Great app!
